G. Milton Shy Award

    This program seeks to stimulate interest in the field of neurology as an exciting and challenging profession by offering a highly competitive award for the best essay in clinical neurology.

Roland P. Mackay Award

    This program seeks to stimulate interest in the field of neurology as an exciting and challenging profession by offering a highly competitive award for the best essay in historical aspects.

Saul R. Korey Award

    This program seeks to stimulate interest in the field of neurology as an exciting and challenging profession by offering a highly competitive award for the best essay in experimental neurology.

AAN Annual Conference Scholarship

    The AAN offers a scholarship in the amount of $1000 to cover one interested student's expenses to visit the annual conference (held this year in Hawaii). To apply, please send an email to Jennifer Hranilovich outlining what you have done for SIGN this year and what your plans are to continue and expand SIGN's programs into next year and beyond. Applications are due by email on 10/1. Please see the email that was sent to SIGN members for more details.

Minority Scholars Program

    "Our award recipients represent varied backgrounds and interests but shared one important attribute, an intense, demonstrated interest in neuroscience and clinical neurology. Their activities have included research resulting in peer-reviewed publications, leadership in organizations to stimulate interest in neurology amongst their peers, and community service to underserved populations. The experience at the 2010 Annual Meeting will serve to strengthen understanding of the breadth and depth of clinical neurology and neuroscience."

Psychiatry

M-STREAM: Geriatric Mental Health

    "The M-STREAM Program is designed to give medical students an opportunity to explore an interest in the field of geriatric mental health through a variety or research opportunities throughout their medical school careers. One of the goals of the program is to increase the number of talented individuals in the "pipeline" of developing researchers. M-STREAM gives students the opportunity to foster a relationship with a mentor in the field that will serve as a role model throughout their medical career. Applications are welcome from students in any year of medical school that are interested in the field of geriatric research."

GMHF Scholars Program

    "This program is designed to increase interest in geriatric psychiatry among medical students, provide information about clinical elective and research opportunities during medical school, inform about opportunities available in psychiatry residency programs, and connect medical students with a mentor who can help them to further their understanding of the profession and enhance their academic learning."
